If a mother is unable to provide her own breast milk, either at the breast or expressed, a milk bank is recommended to be used to ensure that babies can receive breast milk. For premature or sick babies, breast milk can mean the difference between life and death. Studies have also shown that feeding a sick or preterm baby breast milk significantly decreases the length of their hospital stay.
Currently, we do not have a milk bank in Saskatchewan.
We are interested if offering this option to Saskatchewan families. You can help by filling out this short survey.
