The Department of Economics at the National University of Ireland, Galway is currently carrying out a study on the economic value of recreational angling in Ireland.
The key aims of this study are as follows:
Þ To gain insight into which factors/site characteristics influence coarse anglers in their choice of fishing destination.
Þ To assess how these factors differ amongst angler groups.
Þ To gather information that will facilitate better management of Ireland’s fisheries.
The following questionnaire has been designed in an attempt to satisfy these aims. Your cooperation in answering the questions below, as accurately as possible, would be greatly appreciated. All responses will be treated in confidence.
Definition of Coarse angling
In this questionnaire we are concerned with the fishing habits and preferences of coarse anglers. Coarse angling is defined by the species of fish the angler is targeting. Coarse fish include the following species: bream, tench, roach, rudd, hybrids, perch, eels, dace and carp.
