This September, BrightStart for Parents, an 8-week experience for parents of young children, will be offered as a personal, on-demand, online learning experience using animated videos for each session of BrightStart. If you are a parent, grandparent or caregiver of a young child, from birth to 4 years old or are expecting a child, you are eligible.
Participation involves watching short videos about each topic when it's convenient for you. Two types of discussion groups with other parents are available. A weekly 120-minute discussion group on Saturday mornings or an evening 60-minute group that meets online.
A Play and Learn Program for Children through age 4 will be offered on Saturdays. Both groups will be facilitated by Building Healthy Families staff. Enrollment in the Saturday program is limited by our available space and will be offered to families in the order of their completion of the BrightStart Parent's Survey.
Families that participate in the discussion groups will be eligible to receive resources to help you put into practice the principles we share during BrightStart. These resources include books, toys and diapers (as available), all free of charge. We are not able to provide the resources to families who don't participate in a discussion group, but you can still take the course.
We'll be in touch with instructions to complete the BrightStart Parent's Survey. Two weeks before the course begins, you will receive instructions create your account to get access to BrightStart For Parents online.
