Impact of Interacting with Strangers
Study Description and Consent

Purpose
You are being asked to participate in a student research project conducted for a research methods class at Western Illinois University. You will be asked to complete an online survey that should take approximately 12 minutes. The survey will include questions about demographics, personality traits, and body size. Additional questions will ask about how strangers respond to you in public places, how you respond to strangers in public, and where you think certain interactions with strangers are most likely to occur.

Benefits and Risks
Completing this survey may give you a better understanding of how and how often you interact, intentionally or unintentionally, with strangers. In addition, you will be assisting the students as they complete their class research project, as well as other researchers who do not currently know much about how some interactions with strangers can impact people's lives. The risks of this study are minimal and similar to those you would encounter in your daily activities. If for any reason you feel uncomfortable with any question or part of the survey you may skip it, and you may withdraw your participation at any time without penalty.

All data be completely anonymous. No direct identifying information will be collected. Demographic characteristics will only be used to combine responses from people who share similar characteristics. All data will only be reported in the aggregate so that participants will not be able to be identified.
