Welcome

The Federal Election is upon us, taking place on October 21st, 2019.

We are hosting an Indigenous Talking Circle on September 20th, 2019 with interested candidates who are running to be the Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands.  It is our communities’ chance to meet the potential person who will represent all those who live in the Kingston and the Islands area.   This is an important opportunity for you to hear what the candidates think and feel, hopefully providing you with the information to make the most informed choice if you choose to vote in the election.

In a traditional way our Circle allows for respectful and honourable dialogue between our community members and local candidates.  In 2015 this process was very well received by all candidates, our community and allies.  Again this year, allies are invited to attend to listen to candidates answers.

At the Circle there will be an opportunity to submit questions that can be answered by candidates as well as hearing their thoughts on three pressing issues facing indigenous peoples, in Kingston and the Islands and all of Canada.   The three issues that are identified as most pressing will have a question generated for all candidates to answer.
