We are building a network of professionals in government, academia, and industry to advance their careers in preventing and mitigating risks that can arise from the accidental or deliberate misuse of life-science research. These include risks of laboratory accidents, data theft, misbehavior of laboratory personnel, unintended or deliberate release of biological materials, or the publication of “dual-use” information that may enable others to cause harm.

If you are accepted, you will attend a three-day in-person conference in Chennai in August 2024 to meet and learn from regional and international biosecurity experts and other fellows. (Participants may submit requests for reimbursement for travel support.) There will be additional virtual opportunities for professional development and networking throughout the program.

The fellowship is organized by Gryphon Scientific and Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV, Deemed to be University) with funding from the U.S. Department of State, Office of Cooperative Threat Reduction. All fellows are subject to review by the funder. The project team will review all nominations before issuing formal invitations to selected applicants. Events and materials will be in English.
