Firestation Incubate | Cohort #9 | Application

Introduction

Firestation, in partnership with Rotorua X, is seeking newly established businesses, social enterprises or charities to participate in Incubate - a 12 week programme to help them succeed and grow.

The programme is generously subsidised thanks principally to funding from Rotorua Lakes Council. The retail cost of the programme is more than $3,000.

Thanks to additional support from Firestation and Employers & Manufacturers Association BoP, organisations that receive the subsidy will be able to participate in the programme for as little as $49+GST per week or even for free (conditions apply).

There are a limited number of FREE and SUBSIDISED ($49) placements. Free places are reserved for non-profit organisations or those individuals who have limited income or resources.

Alternatively organisations can guarantee a place by funding themselves through the programme with an investment of only $129+GST per week. This will not only confirm participation, it also means extended individual coaching time and a complimentary pod (desk) in the Firestation co-working space for the duration.

All participants receive complimentary use of Firestation meeting rooms.

Incubate is predominantly facilitated by business growth expert Darren McGarvie, co-founder and chief coach at Firestation. Additional facilitation is provided by other organisations such as EMA.

Participants will receive business coaching in one-on-one sessions plus group Mastery training to build business capability. This will help participants to set goals, implement actions and increase overall success through business planning to help them work on their business or social enterprise.

Topics covered are: Growth Mindset, Marketing Essentials, Sales Strategies, Employment Essentials, Online Marketing, Business Essentials, Pitching & Pricing and Finance Essentials.

The programme will commence in May 2017 and requires a time commitment of 2-3 hours per week. Most sessions will be held on Wednesday mornings.

Further criteria:
- Organisation must have generated at lease a dollar in income from sales and have access to capital
- Previous business ownership or related commercial experience is necessary
- Passion, energy and a desire to succeed

IMPORTANT NOTE: Successful candidates will be required to sign a ‘Pledge of Commitment’.

This document confirms that all sessions will be attended, participants understand the need for confidentiality and acknowledge that Rotorua Lakes Council reserves the right to be reimbursed for the cost of the programme should attendees fail to participate to a satisfactory level.
