Infant feeding in emergencies on the island of Ireland

Thank you for participating in our survey. Your feedback is important.

Please read the participant information below and check the appropriate boxes on the following page. If you have any questions, please let us know prior to signing this form.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY? We are interested in obtaining consensus on the barriers and supports for infant and young child feeding during emergencies in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. This study is funded under the HEA North-South Ireland Research Programme.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I VOLUNTEER? Participant commitment will involve completion of two online surveys, with the option of participating in an in-person or online workshop also.

The survey will focus on your opinions regarding infant and young child feeding during emergencies. There are no correct/incorrect answers. The workshop will involve group discussions focusing on the answers to the first survey, with an emphasis on working collectively to generate solutions to challenges identified at the survey stage. The second survey will seek the opinions of a larger group regarding the solutions identified and topics discussed during the workshop.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS AND RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE STUDY? There are no direct benefits or risks to you in taking this study. Please only respond to questions that you are comfortable responding to.

RIGHT TO WITHDRAW: An individual who initially agrees to participate in the study has the right to refuse to answer any particular question(s) or participate in a particular set of activities. This survey is anonymous and we will not collect identifiable information. As such, you will not be able to withdraw survey data after completion.

DATA RETENTION: Individual survey responses will be allocated a unique ID and stored on the Principal Investigator’s TU Dublin OneDrive storage account for 10 years. Dr Liz O’Sullivan will be the Data Manager and Processor for this project.

HOW WILL MY INFORMATION BE USED? The data will be used to write reports for publication in academic journals, or to present to various stakeholders (e.g., government, healthcare professionals, parents). Excerpts of the data may also be used to highlight important findings on social media. No identifiable information will be used and summary data (i.e., the results of all participants together) will be presented.
