CyBR-MSI:IRR Research Infrastructure Assessment Tool (RIAT) |
Welcome to the CyBR-MSI: IRR Research Infrastructure Assessment Tool (RIAT).
This is an institutional self-assessment designed to gauge infrastructure support for faculty preparing federal grant proposals. This instrument focuses on pre-award support only. It is intended to be completed by faculty, department heads, and SRO administrators.
NOTE: Throughout this instrument, we refer to Sponsored Research Office (SRO) services. Different institutions have different names for this office, and some institutions do now have an SRO, but offer similar services. Translate this term (SRO) in whatever way makes the most sense for you and your institutional context.
This instrument will take approximately 4 minutes to complete. Items in this instrument were derived from interviews with faculty, program officers, and SRO administrators from a range of institutions. Each item is weighted based on consensus from diverse faculty about its value during grant preparation.
Upon completion, you will receive a score that reflects your perception of the strength of the infrastructure support at your institution. Respondents from a single institution may have widely varying scores due to grant-writing experience, department, academic discipline, and extend of knowledge and understanding of SRO services. The RIAT is best used as a conversation starter to strengthen communication between faculty and SRO staff and administrators.
This instrument was collaboratively developed by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and Quality Evaluation Designs (QED). All responses are confidential and no institution or individual will be identifiable in any analysis or reporting.
