General info
Please be aware, and agree to mention (verbally or in a caption or at the end), that “EnChroma glasses work for 8 of 10 color blind people, not everyone, and results and reaction times vary.”
You agree to not misrepresent how color blind people see the world for dramatic impact. To show your followers realistic examples of how the color blind see the world, which is always fascinating to people with normal color vision, download and use the Chromatic Vision Simulator app. It can convert video and/or images to color blind view for you to save and use in your post.
Be aware that color blind people DO see color, but they only see about 10% of the reds and greens the rest of us see. Please do not depict their world view as black and white.
You agree to not characterize EnChroma glasses as a “cure,” “correction” or delivering full color vision.
Below is some standard info for color blind people, or for you, to have in mind when he/she tries them the first time as the acclimation and reaction times may not be as fast as you may have seen in viral online videos.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU TRY ENCHROMA
Be aware that the first time you put on EnChroma glasses you could have an instant, powerful effect or it could take a few seconds or minutes up to as much as 5+ minutes for your eyes and brains to adjust the first few times you wear the glasses. Each time you put them on that acclimation period will decrease until it’s instant every time.
About 40% of people have a “WOW” instant effect, but even if you don’t acclimate instantly you’ll get the same benefits as those people who acclimate instantly; it may just be a little slower the first few times you try the glasses. However, even if you’re in the slower category you should notice some difference right away. If at first the world seems a little too reddish initially, that will fade as you adapt chromatically and you should get the greens and reds you need without the colors you already see tinted or distorted.
The glasses work for 8 of 10 people who are red-green color blind. Please state this somewhere in your video. Be aware that you won’t get 100% color vision, reaction times vary, the glasses are not designed to help you improve on pass/fail color vision tests (like the “dot test”), and you will still get some colors wrong.
However, you should experience an expanded range of colors you can see, and colors should be more vibrant, clear and distinct and you should enjoy improved depth and detail perception. For example, you should be able to see purple instead of blue, pink instead of gray, red instead of brown, green instead of tan, yellow or gray or muted green and see more shade variations and textures. ENJOY!!!!!!
If they don’t work for you it could be because your color blindness is too severe for our lenses to help, or that you are missing one of the three color “cones” in your eye (dichromacy) or one of the cones isn’t functioning properly. EnChroma glasses do not and cannot physically alter the cones in the eye; they manipulate the light entering the eye. Therefore, if any of the “cones” aren’t functioning or present the manipulation of light won’t make a difference. Unfortunately, a simple typical color blindness test cannot detect if this is the case or not.
Chromatic Vision Simulator Info
To show your audience how color blind people see, to drive home the vibrancy that can be brought to life, and to create content that fits your brand and style, download this wonderful app on a mobile device: https://asada.website/webCVS/. They also have a web version if needed.
This app enables you to easily point your device at any colorful object, and then press one of the buttons near the bottom of the screen to create video or photos that show side-by-side what the object or scene looks like to a color blind person with ‘Deutan’ (75% of the red-green color blind, press ‘D’ at the bottom) or ‘Protan’ (25% of the red-green color blind, press ‘P’ at the bottom) color vision deficiency, and how it looks to those with normal vision. Most people simply do not realize how the world can look to the color blind. You can also use their website to upload and convert to color blind view photos or video. We recommend using the settings at about 70% simulation.
