AAP Innovations in Newborn Screening ECHO Registration

Thank you for your interest in the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Innovations in Newborn Screening Interoperability (INBSI) ECHO!

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) INBSI ECHO invites state/jurisdictional newborn screening programs to join an 8-month virtual learning collaborative aimed to advance electronic data exchange and interoperability between state newborn screening and healthcare information systems.

Newborn screening programs will engage via the ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) model®, a tele-mentoring platform that leverages video conference technology to connect public health professionals with subject matter experts fostering an “all teach, all learn” approach.

The ECHO Model ® will use brief lectures and real-life presentations to facilitate practical application of interoperability concepts. The educational series aims to increase capacity for state teams to manage implementation of their newborn screening interoperability projects. Using technology, informatics and project management tools, and scenario‐based learning, state teams develop knowledge and self‐efficacy on newborn screening interoperability.

Beginning in October 2022, participants will meet once a month for a total of 8 sessions via Zoom. The program will conclude in May 2023.
