While our nation has a long way to go in order to fully recover from the pandemic, the manufacturing sector is starting to bounce back. Last month, Illinois manufacturers added 14,600 jobs and the latest survey of business conditions by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago showed the largest positive trend is in the industrial sector. Nationally, the U.S. Department of Labor reported that the number of open manufacturing jobs increased to 336,000 in June, an increase of 30,000 job openings.

I’ve continued to say that manufacturers have answered our nation’s call every single time and they will lead us through this economic and health challenge as well. More than half of American manufacturers reported better than expected results in June and another economic survey showed that a majority of companies are growing.

Manufacturing growth is exciting but the IMA continues to hear from member companies that they are challenged to find qualified workers despite double digit unemployment rates in Illinois. The IMA will be launching a “Makers Hiring” campaign to help attract candidates for these jobs. As part of this effort, we’d like to help highlight your company and available jobs.

Please take a moment and complete the following survey. This is not a “jobs board.”’ We’ll use this information to help showcase your company and its open jobs as part of this statewide campaign.
