It is now widely accepted that social determinants (conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age) have a greater impact on an individual’s health outcomes than physical determinants (genetics, inherited traits). Individuals and organizations who affect the built environment are critical partners in addressing health inequities and promoting health and wellness for all people in our communities.
The Illinois Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA-IL, www.ilapa.org), in partnership with local and statewide health partners, is exploring ways that it can facilitate the integration of health into planning efforts. In order to assess the current state of health and planning in the state of Illinois, we ask you to complete this brief survey by April 28, 2017.
