Equity in Breastfeeding

The International Lactation Consulting Association (ILCA) is focused on addressing the inequities that exist in the lactation space.  ILCA wants to develop strategies to address the inequities, in an effort to meet the World Health Organization Global 2025 Target:

Increase the rate of exclusive breastfeeding in the first six months up to at least 50%.

This survey is designed to elicit feedback from ILCA members related to the cultural, environmental and social factors that have led to inequity and strategies to address those inequities.  Furthermore, ILCA is interested in gaining a perspective on diversity, equity and inclusion policies that need to be adopted in an effort to protect, support and promote breastfeeding.

Considering your own professional/personal experiences and/or the information provided in the webinar related to global and national breastfeeding rates, along with the information provided about the breastfeeding/chestfeeding barriers in the LGBTQIA+ population and lactation related challenges of persons with disabilities, reflect upon and share your thoughts about achieving equity.

Please respond to the questions of the group(s) that you are most comfortable with and/or most informed about. The groups are as follows:

 - International - Global Perspective
 - National by Race - United States of America
 - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual+
