The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Standard (Std) 1547™ is one of the foundational documents in the United States needed for integrating distributed energy resources, including solar energy systems, with the electric distribution grid. A revised version of this standard was published in April 2018 (IEEE Std 1547-2018). The new standard is significantly different from the prior version, with new concepts and new technical requirements. The new requirements are designed to enable the use of modern distributed energy resources towards improving performance of the electric grid during day-to-day operations and improving grid resilience during abnormal grid conditions. 

New educational material is being prepared to aid stakeholders in the successful adoption and implementation of the standard. Your feedback on this Request for Information will help to identify key priority areas that the educational material should address. Your responses will inform the development of new educational material, which will be targeted to meet the identified needs. The aggregated, anonymized results of the responses to this Request for Information and the new educational material will be posted on a publicly-available website by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
