Welcome to the public input survey for the I-77 South Corridor Plan!

As part of its 2019 strategic goals, York County Council identified a growth management goal to foster an environment where all citizens and businesses can thrive and succeed. A key strategy for that goal includes developing area plans.

York County has an adopted comprehensive plan, called “York Forward.” It contains many important recommendations and goals for the county’s future, including land use and economic development. An area plan similarly features analysis and recommendations, but focuses on a smaller area, rather than the entire county at once.

This summer, York County Council and planning staff identified the I-77 South Corridor, land south of the Catawba River within a two mile buffer on either side of Interstate 77, as one such area to study closer.

York Forward plans for much of the area’s future as “I-77 Corridor Employment,” a land use category intended to facilitate county job growth by making land available to major employers in target industries. The goal of the I-77 South Corridor Plan is to maximize this economic development potential while minimizing impact on adjoining residential areas.

Your input is a critical component in striking that balance and we thank you for participating in this brief survey.
