About the Hudson River Fish Advisory Sign Program:
The Hudson River Fish Advisory Outreach Project's goal is to ensure Hudson River anglers are aware of the Health Department’s advice on eating fish you catch. As part of the program, DOH is required to post signs at Hudson River access sites, with the permission of the landowner, to alert anglers of the health advice.
DOH manages 160 separate access sites between the Federal Dam in Troy and the NYC Battery. The existing signs were created ~20 years ago through focus groups with local residents and landowners. DOH is in the process of re-designing the signs and are currently seeking feedback from both municipalities and area anglers in the re-design process to increase awareness by anglers and sign posting by municipalities.
