Housing programs provide a range of services designed to assist persons served in obtaining and maintaining housing that is safe, stable, dignified, and of their own choosing. While the scope of services may vary depending on the program type and focus, all housing programs assess the housing needs of the persons served and provide services, supports, and education to facilitate achievement of the housing goals of the persons served in both the near-term and long-term and their progress toward independent living.
These standards will replace Behavioral Health’s current standards for Community Housing and Supported Living Programs and offer a new accreditation opportunity for Supervised Recovery Residences. The final standards will be published in CARF’s
2027 Behavioral Health Standards Manual.
About this Field ReviewThis field review includes 24 standards for Housing Programs:
- All Housing Programs meet Standards 1.–8.
- Housing Supports also meet Standards 9.–11.
- Community Housing also meets Standards 12.–21.
- Supervised Recovery Residences also meet Standards 12.–24.
In addition, an organization seeking accreditation for a Housing Program meets:
- Business practice standards in Section 1. ASPIRE to Excellence®.
- Applicable standards in Section 2. General Program Standards.
