About the Training: First Alaskans Institute will hold a dialogue host training February 25-26, 2020 in Anchorage from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm with a working lunch each day. We use indigenous values and knowledge to host meaningful and healing dialogues about social justice challenges and other difficult but critical topics we collectively face across Alaska. We do this with the purpose of elevating community-driven solutions and action plans to better our collective future.

 Participants will learn how to design and lead conversations that matter by building strengths
in awareness, experience, and advocacy. First Alaskans uses a variety of dialogue methods built from our Native values and ways of knowing, and use these indigenous and social technologies such as World Café, Open Space, and Appreciative Inquiry, to create transformative spaces. The training is designed to equip current and future hosts with the skills to:
 • Establish trust and alignment when divergent interests may be present;
 • Acknowledge someone’s personal experience while achieving the goals of the dialogue;
 • Ensure space is created for all participants to engage and contribute; and
 • Develop collective responsibility to advance identified outcomes.

While this training focuses on hosting conversations designed to advance social justice, the methods learned will offer wide application to other critical conversations your community may need.
