Welcome to the consultation survey on the Draft Homelessness Statement for Tower Hamlets.
Local partners in the Homelessness Partnership Board would like local people and organisations to help inform a new Homelessness Statement for the borough.

We would really appreciate you taking some time to complete this short survey which will take around 5 minutes to complete.

Having somewhere suitable to live is very important. That is why tackling and preventing homelessness is a priority for the Council and other key organisations in the borough. It is a key part of achieving our vision of improving the lives of all local people.

Local organisations working together have prevented many people becoming homeless and improved services for homeless families and individuals.

There are now many things that are going to put more people at risk of becoming homeless and make it harder for services to prevent homelessness. These include changes to the benefit system, changes to social housing, the continuing economic crisis and reduction in resources available to services working with homeless people.

The overall aim of the strategy is to tackle and prevent homelessness in Tower Hamlets. This includes:
  • Preventing Homelessness;
  • Supporting those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness; and
  • Providing accommodation for homeless households.
Equality Analysis
A draft Equality Analysis has been undertaken on the Homelessness Statement to ensure that the approach to tackling homelessness that the Council and its Partners adopts does not, where possible, disproportionately disadvantage any one particular group, especially the protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010: race, disability, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, religion or belief, age, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity as well as other socio-economic groups.
