The City of Hillsboro is seeking information regarding connection of sump pumps or drainage systems to the sewer system. During rain events, the city experiences large amounts of rain water coming into the sewer system which causes the sewer system to overflow. To avoid costly mandated system changes from the state of Kansas and EPA, the city is offering to help property owners identify illegal connections and correct them. The city's program is a one time opportunity for the city to financially assist with eliminating illegal connections. After the program ends, it will be up to the homeowner to correct illegal connections on their own. For more information on the city's program check out the city's website.
