Qualities sought for Harley’s next Head of School include being a visionary leader, strategic thinker, skillful manager, an excellent communicator, good listener, experienced and dynamic educator, track record of successful fundraising, visible and energetic presence on campus and in the greater community, future-oriented educator with a progressive view of educational goals and values, a positive mindset and a focus on getting things done, and a desire to embrace life in Rochester for a long tenure as Head of School.
The position description for the Harley Head of School, states that they will be charged to:

  • Foster a joyful educational community of faculty and parents committed to progressive education.
  • Provide visible leadership, clear communication, and support of a vibrant school culture
  • Implement the recently developed strategic plan in order to fully realize the vision and mission of the school.
  • Be an active, enthusiastic networker in the Rochester educational scene to support marketing, fundraising, and enrollment.
  • Support, develop, and lead the division heads in their work to provide exceptional academic and individualized instruction across all grade levels.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the school while advancing Harley’s future.
  • Enhance the philanthropic culture of the community to further support the endowment
  • Support the Advancement Office and Faculty in their efforts to enroll mission-appropriate students in a competitive market.
