* 5. The Legislature legalized adult-use cannabis for recreational use last year. I worked closely on the legislation, which allows local governments to set the rules for public cannabis consumption. Cities may set ordinances for where public cannabis use is not acceptable and whether it should be treated as a petty misdemeanor offense (a ticket).
