Dear Potential Training Attendee Team:
Thank you for your interest in attending the "Enhancing Culturally Responsive Practices in the Courts Training" presented by the U. S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), in partnership with Casa de Esperanza, the Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence, Ujima, Inc.: The National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community and Center for Court Innovation.
As a result of this training, participants will be better able to:
· Facilitate access to justice by fostering more culturally responsive courts, court staff and judges.
· Identify role-specific responsibilities in implementing culturally responsive practices in the courts.
· Assess culturally-specific barriers survivors may face in the criminal and civil justice systems and design strategies for overcoming those challenges.
Before you begin, partially completed applications will not be saved. We recommend that you set aside a few minutes to complete the entire application. You could also save your answers on a word document ahead of time, and "copy and paste" when you are ready to answer each question.

Description:
Enhancing Culturally Responsive Practices in the Courts Training is an interactive training for court staff that explores culture and court responses to culturally specific domestic violence and sexual assault victims.
Who may apply?
Attendance is limited to 40 participants representing Justice for Families, Court Training and Improvements Programs (CTIP), and STOP and their OVW grant partners can participate and use their OVW travel funds to send court staff and partners to this training. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring a team of 2 to 4 court staff that works with DV/SA cases including but not limited to Judge, court clerk, security, court advocates and DV prosecutors unit.
This training is sponsored by the Office on Violence Against Women, Department of Justice (OVW) and will be offered at no cost to participants. Please note that participants are responsible for their own meals, lodging, and travel arrangements. Please do not make any travel arrangements until you receive a confirmation email. OVW grantees and their OVW grant partners can participate and use their OVW travel funds to send grant funded staff and partners to this training.
Participants must attend ALL the training in order to receive reimbursement if OVW funding is used.
*NOTE: DO NOT make travel arrangements! All application submissions will be submitted to OVW for review and approval to participate. Teams cleared by OVW to participate will be notified and provided additional instructions on how to secure hotel reservations.
