The GSAE Foundation Intern Program seeks to provide opportunities for students to obtain first-hand experience in the profession of association management, while providing additional staffing for associations in Georgia.

Any organization in Georgia that employs at least one GSAE member may apply. The applications will be judged on the quality of the internship experience described in the application rather than on the qualifications of the student who will fill the internship. In many cases, the organization may apply for the internship without knowing which student will fill the position. It is the responsibility of the organization to recruit a qualified student to fill the internship, but this may be done after the GSAE Foundation announces which applications will be funded. If an organization that is awarded an internship fails to find an intern, then no funds will be distributed to that organization.

The amount of the grant to the organization will vary depending upon the number and quality of applications. The Trustees will also take into consideration the financial needs of the organization when determining the final grant amount.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Provide broadest educational experience and exposure to association or hospitality work
  2. Must be a meaningful business experience—minimal clerical work
    • Must benefit:
  • association profession
  • sponsoring association
  • student
  • Work must be either a specific project(s) and/or provide student with broad exposure to association or hospitality work

5) Must be in Georgia

6) Must be filled by a college student

7) Work experience must be for at least a 10-week period (full-or part-time)

Sponsoring Organization’s and Student’s Obligations:

  • Write article for GSAE newsletter.
  • Make results of project available to GSAE.
  • Organization to provide feedback to Foundation regarding process, experience, suggestions, etc.
