Thank you very much for taking the time to complete our survey. We look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Information about this project

A recent EEF report showed that findings from basic cognitive science are pretty solid and provide us with a good theoretical understanding of how learning works. However, evidence from applied cognitive science is much weaker. In other words, we still know relatively little about how best to implement cognitive science in the classroom, across phases and settings.
We want to gain a better understanding of which strategies are currently being implemented in which settings and how effective you perceive them to be.
We also want to hear what questions and uncertainties you have when you are using findings from the cognitive sciences in your setting.
We will then analyse all the questions we collect as part of this exercise, group them according to themes and put them back out to the profession for you to rank them according to your priorities. The results will be communicated to researchers, funding bodies and other stakeholders in education to increase our understanding of cognitive science implementation and guide new research.

What will this involve?
This survey contains open and closed questions
so we can get an overall picture of the implementation of cognitive science across settings and also give you the opportunity to share your thoughts and questions in more depth.

Responses are anonymous and we will only analyse them on a group level. The survey should not take more than 8 minutes to complete.

Do I have to take part in the research?
Participation in this research is entirely voluntary. You can also ask to withdraw any data from the research without giving a reason by contacting the research lead Dr Lisa-Maria Muller ( If you change your mind while completing the survey, simply quit the page - incomplete responses will not be included in the analysis.

Personal data
The Chartered College of Teaching will only store personal information for the purposes of contacting you for the project. You can find the privacy policy here. All identifiers (names, school names) will be removed or changed in any publication or presentation of the results.
