The Importance of Early College and Career Awareness: A Curriculum
Susan Nesbitt Perez, Vice President, Outreach and Financial Aid, Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (cIcu)

Research shows that 8th and 9th grade are pivotal years for students as students transition from middle school to high school. To familiarize students with the importance of their efforts in high school and its impact on opportunities for college and beyond, this session will introduce a curriculum cIcu developed with GEAR UP grant funds awarded to the cIcu by the Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC), overviewing its content and suggesting strategies for implementing the curriculum in classrooms, guidance sessions, other periods.

This webinar series is supported, in part, with a federal GEAR UP grant awarded to Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (cIcu) by the Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC), the state agency designated to administer the state’s NYGEAR UP grant.
