The Archdiocese of Sydney is preparing for its Archdiocesan Synod in 2026. A synod is a special moment in the life of the Church, when clergy, religious, and laity come together to listen to the Spirit and discern how we can grow and strengthen our local Church community. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the Synod will seek faithful, practical, and hopeful ideas to renew the Church in Sydney.

As part of this process, the Archdiocese is inviting parishes, communities, and people of faith to share their hopes and reflections. Acceptance Sydney will be making a submission, and we warmly invite you—our members, supporters, and friends—to contribute your voices and experiences through our community consultation.

The Synod is inviting reflection around three key questions:

How can our liturgies be more prayerful?
How can our parishes and Church communities be more Christ-centred?
How can we be more mission-oriented?

We ask you to consider these questions with a particular focus on how the Church in Sydney can become more inclusive, welcoming, and attentive to the needs of the Catholic LGBTQIA+ community.

To have your voices heard as part of the submission, please complete our Synod survey below.

No individual will be identified in our final submission.

We truly look forward to you sharing your ambitions, faith, and reflections as we journey together into this important time for the Church in Sydney.

This survey will close on 1 December 2025.
