Spiritual Small Group Options

Small Group Options for Fall 2022 and Spring 2023

I'd like to hear which small group activities you think would best serve your spiritual needs. For your spiritual growth, what would benefit you the most? What do you need, that would help you draw closer to the heart of God? Rank these options from Least Needed by you to Most Helpful to you.
1.Bible Study for Grown-Ups or "How to Read the Bible as an Adult": This study would help you grow more familiar with the Bible's contents and help you read it spiritually, so that it's relevant for your spiritual journey.

3.Faith for Grown-Ups: Talking to Your Family & Friends about Christian Spirituality: We would discuss how to discuss Christianity with family and friends (and strangers) who don't attend church, voice skepticism toward supernatural claims, or identity as atheists/agnostics. Such wisdom would be helpful for the sake of sharing Christianity with others and for engaging unchurched family and friends with grace and understanding.

5.Financial Peace Junior, teaching children and families how to handle money: Using a curriculum designed by Dave Ramsey and the team behind "Financial Peace University," this class teaches children ages 4-12 how to think about money, work, saving, and giving. With lots of fun activities, kids learn about what items cost, the problem of debt, and the temptations of overconsumption.

6.A Hymn Sing: In the evening with a meal, we would sing a range of hymns accompanied by guitar and piano, from well-known hymns to lesser-known hymns. Genres would range from two-hundred-year-old classics, to spirituals, to country gospel, and to the recently published. Methodists would traditionally sing every time they got together, to learn hymns and pass them on to the next generation.

7.Coffee with the Pastor: On a weekday morning or evening, we would gather to discuss the previous Sunday's sermon and prepare for the next one. Having conversations about our spiritual lives and the scriptures/topics address on Sundays can help me better pastor my congregants.
