The City of Bellevue welcomes individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise. Diversity is embraced as a defining characteristic of our city, positively impacting the community’s economy, culture, and education. The City Council Vision states, “Bellevue welcomes the world. Our diversity is our strength. We embrace the future while respecting out past.” Read more about the Council’s vision here.

Boards and commissions provide significant assistance to the City Council when formulating public policy and transforming policy decisions into action. These advisory bodies are made up of qualified, responsible, and motivated community members who wish to participate in the governance of their community. Applicants wanting to serve on a board or commission should have a willingness to put in the time and commitment necessary to serve, bring a unique perspective, and work well in a collaborative setting. Except for the Environmental Services Commission, applicants must be residents of Bellevue. For the Environmental Services Commission, applicants must live within the Bellevue Utilities service area, which includes the communities of Medina, Clyde Hill, Yarrow Bay, and Hunts Point.
