HRSA intake application Survey

1.Dear Participant:

We are implementing a behavioral health workforce training program at Bowie State University. As a component of this project, we are conducting a research study to examine the effectiveness and impact of our peer recovery education, service delivery, and supervision training services. This research has been approved by the Bowie State University Institutional Review Board.

Your participation involves completing an application packet with mental health assessments as a screening for the training process. Once accepted for participation, you will attend (1 or more):

·       Peer Recovery Specialist Trainees: 60 hours of virtual training on peer recovery service delivery and supervision AND a 500-hour internship experience to apply their peer recovery techniques and training,

·       Peer Recovery Supervisor Trainees: 16 hours of virtual training on peer recovery service delivery and supervision,

·       Family Peer Recovery Specialist Training: 16 hours of virtual training on family peer recovery service delivery and supervision, OR

·       Training of Trainers (TOT) Trainees: 16 hours of virtual training on peer recovery service delivery and supervision

At the conclusion of the preparation process, you will be asked to complete follow-up assessments about your use of the peer recovery training model and your professional experiences using the peer recovery training. All of your responses will be kept confidential using unique identifiers and encrypted cloud-based data repositories. Your contact information and unique identifier will be shared with an external evaluator, the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago, for further evaluation purposes. However, your personal identifying information would not be provided to HRSA and would be destroyed at the conclusion of the NORC evaluation.

The study is estimated to last 6 months to allow time for gathering data as well as providing the aforementioned training and internship experiences.

Your participation in this study is voluntary, confidential, and optional. If you choose not to participate or to discontinue the study at any time, there will be no penalty. You can stop participating at any time. Withdrawing or choosing not to participate will not negatively affect you in any way. The results of the research study may be published, however no personal or identifying information (e.g., your name) will be used.

We do not anticipate any risks to you by participating in this research. Due to the strong nature of the training topics, namely substance abuse disorders, we are prepared to provide you with limited mental health support services if you become upset during the training process. The direct benefit to you is the tuition for peer recovery training services. The peer recovery training was provided at no cost to you and it enables you to seek full national certification as a certified peer recovery specialist and/or a registered peer supervisor. NOTE: Participation in this training does not guarantee national certification or registration.
