Bring Back the Kern is committed to creating volunteer opportunities that are exciting and fulfilling for members of the community. Communications - talk to the public both on-line and in person. This group will create social media campaigns, design print materials, and promote BBTK events. Members of this group might also attend community events and educate people on the state of the river and what action they can take to restore it.

Policy Watchdog - learn the inner workings of CA and Kern River water and help craft strategy for Bring(ing) Back the Kern. Some members of this group may attend and give public comments at water district board meetings and report back to the team on what things were discussed by Kern River water decision makers.

Special Projects - help plan and carry-out events that raise awareness about the Kern River's situation. Examples of past projects include our protest march through the dry riverbed, the "Flow" ephemeral art installation in the dry riverbed, the "Mighty Kern River" children's book, and our collaboration with local breweries.

Volunteer mobilization - get your hands dirty helping to restore our river with regular trash cleanups, invasive species removals, and restoration projects. Members of this group will collaborate with other organizations such as schools and non-profits to help them with their missions as well.
