Antenatal Point-of-Care Ultrasound (PoCUS) training workshops

ASUM is currently supporting the University of South Australia’s research project (HREC Ethics ID: 201543), led by Associate Professor Nayana Parange, in seeking expressions of interest from our members interested in supporting the project. The Hospital Research Foundation is funding 25 trainees (i.e. Doctors- General Practice and GP registrars, midwives and nurses) in rural and remote settings of Central Australia to attend 2-day antenatal PoCUS training workshops.

Proposed workshop dates are:
·         13-14 May
·         20-21 May
·         27-28 May
.         3-4 June

*These dates are tentative and subject to change.

Due to the challenges faced last year with regard to travel, preference will be given to volunteers in the local region of Alice Springs. Limited funding will be available to support those volunteering for each workshop.

Members are invited to submit an expression of interest to undertake the following role;
·      Ultrasound educators who are Sonographers/Sonologists

Criteria for these roles include:
  • Principles aligning with the ASUM mission and values
  • Good communication skills, be inclusive and diplomatic
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in obstetric ultrasound
  • Qualification or experience in education
  • Understanding and experience in the role of obstetric PoCUS
  • Passionate about improving pregnancy outcomes in rural and remote Australia

If you enjoy learning and sharing your knowledge, this is a great opportunity to make a difference and build on your knowledge of clinical practice and challenges in rural settings.

If you are concerned with the time commitment required but keen to be involved or support others, we would welcome your application in a role as a mentor.

If interested, please complete your details in this Expression of Interest form (addressing the above selection criteria) and upload a current resume.

The University of South Australia will finalise the composition of the representatives and eligible applicants will be contacted. Should you have any questions, please contact Project Manager Amber Bidner at Amber.Bidner@unisa.edu.au.
