Survey evaluating the perceptions of clinicians on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer in Northern Ireland.

Introduction

Dear Participant,

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, and especially in radiology, continues to increase in recent years, but little is known about staff perceptions about these advancements. The successful integration of AI into routine clinical practice depends on whether YOU as a clinician can accept and trust it. AI imaging tools such as qXR and qCT software are reported to allow faster and more accurate reporting of X-rays and CT scans, as well as supporting early detection of lung cancer. This short questionnaire assesses your perceptions of the use of AI assisted technology in the lung cancer pathway in Northern Ireland. We are interested to assess your perceptions about possible changes in the diagnosis of treatment of lung cancer in patients in Northern Ireland. This study is investigating your perception of the qXR and qCT software specifically. qXR is a patented and clinically validated AI software which helps identify incidental lung nodules from chest X-rays and support early lung cancer diagnosis. Similarly, qCT is an AI software that detects lung nodules on CT scans and tracks volumetric growth as part of progression monitoring. It also assigns malignancy risk based on guidelines including Lung-RADS®, Brock and Fleischner.

The survey is anonymous, so no identifiable data will be collected. There is a separate link at the end for you to leave contact details if you are interested in participating in an interview for phase 2 of the study.

Your participation is voluntary, and you can withdraw your willingness to participate at any time.

The evaluation of your survey will be stored on a protected server at Ulster University, to which only the study team has access. In accordance with legal requirements, the documents will be stored for 10 years after the end of the study and then destroyed.

The survey should try approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Please click here to read the full Participant Information Sheet before you proceed Participant Information Sheet for Clinicians
