Rev. Dr. Steve Turner and his wife, Darlene, have four adult children and four grandchildren.

President emeritus of the Iowa District West, he earned his Doctor of Ministry from Concordia in St. Louis and served in Iowa District West for his entire ministry; pastor of a dual parish for 6 years in Marcus and Quimby, and 24 years as Senior Pastor of Trinity, Algona.

Steve previously served on the Lutheran Family Service Board of Directors in the early 90’s. He believes “the importance of LFS lies in its mission to walk with people who are experiencing hard times and are there for them just as God has been there for us.” The professional skills he would bring to the board of directors are financial expertise, strategic planning, non-profit management, and community building. He has a vision for the future of LFS with the expansion of services to new regions with a focus on mental health support for pastors and professional church workers as well as financial health and long-term sustainability of the organization.

Rev. Dr. Scott Sailer and his wife, Sarah, have three adult sons and one granddaughter. Sarah manages the after-school day care program at Sioux Falls Lutheran School.

Former president of the LCMS South Dakota District, he earned his Doctor of Ministry from Concordia in St. Louis and served in South Dakota District for his entire ministry; pastor for 4 years at St. John, Howard, 5 years at Bethesda, Hot Springs, and 16 years at Faith, Sioux Falls. He also served as admission counselor and the Director of Admissions at Concordia Seminary for 4 years. Currently in semi-retirement, he is serving as Development Ambassador for Sioux Falls Lutheran School.

“It was during my time as the president of the South Dakota District that our district became affiliated with LFS. I helped to promote LFS in South Dakota and helped to ensure that LFS would be able to be an adoption agency for our state.”

Candidate Ken Stotmeister, Trinity Lutheran Church, Davenport, Iowa

Ken and his wife Pam have been Illinois residents their entire lives. They have 4 adult children, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Ken is now retired as he was a financial advisor for over 40 years. He has been active in his local church community as Elder, chairman of Facility & Grounds team, helps at a meal site with other community churches, and several disaster deployments through LERT on the chainsaw crew.

Ken was appointed to the LFS board in 2021 and has learned a great deal about LFS over the last several years. He currently serves as the LFS board chair. ‘I have learned about how God is working through LFS through Christian adoption, Christian counseling, and Christian lobbying to legislators in Iowa and the nation to bring the message of a better world view to Iowa and beyond. I’m humbled to be a small part of that.’
