In this presentation I will describe a certificate program in professional Spanish for college-level students. The “Certificate in Professional and Conversational Competence for Spanish Heritage Speakers” is designed for students who want to develop their language skills for use in a professional setting but who do not necessarily want to pursue a Spanish major or minor. With that in mind, the certificate emphasizes the development of field-specific vocabulary and presentational skills. With flexible coursework and a hands-on approach to language learning, this program accommodates HL speakers with different proficiency levels, academic backgrounds, and professional goals.
