SCD 2017 ATLANTA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Three types of scholarships will be available to participants of SCD 2017 Atlanta.  Please apply for the scholarship that best fit your situation. 
 
1. Racial Ethnic Scholarships from Global Ministries
2. Small Church Scholarship from Global Ministries for churches with under 150 in average worship.
    Also includes one additional scholarship for another person from the same church.
3. Southeastern Jurisdiction scholarship are offered as follows:

     - Southeastern Jurisdiction scholarships for pastors who have less than ten years in service who have
       under 300 in worship.
     - Southeastern Jurisdiction scholarships for laity who are members of a church with under 300 in worship
     - Clergy serving in a ministry less than 10 years old. Clergy are encouraged to bring one lay member.

Please do not register for the event or make a booking in the hotel until you have received a letter from Global Ministries or the North Georgia Conference confirming that you have been rewarded a scholarship.  When you register, you will need to use the email address you used for the application and you will pay $50.00 toward your registration fee. 
 
You are also responsible for the optional items, which include the Pre-Conference Seminars ($25.00), Sunday Morning Bus Pass ($10.00), SCD 2017 Resource Kit ($60.00).
 
APPLICATIONS WILL BE REVIEWED BY GLOBAL MINISTRIES STAFF FOR THE RACIAL ETHNIC AND SMALL-CHURCH SCHOLARSHIPS.  STAFF FROM THE NORTH GEORGIA CONFERENCE WILL REVIEW APPLICATIONS FOR THE SEJ SCHOLARSHIPS.  BY SUBMITTING THIS APPLICATION, YOU GIVE PERMISSION FOR THEM TO REVIEW YOUR APPLICATION. 
Scholarship Options Descriptions (choose from Question 1)

1.     Racial Ethnic Scholarship (must live outside of the Atlanta, GA, area). Covers $275 of the $325 registration fee, one night’s lodging at the Hyatt Place Atlanta.

2.     Local Resident Racial Ethnic Scholarship (for persons living within the Atlanta, GA. area.) Covers $275 of the $325 registration fee.  Please note that we will not cover lodging for Local Resident Racial Ethnic Scholarship Applicants.

3.     Seminarian Racial Ethnic Scholarship (for persons living outside  the metropolitan Atlanta, GA, area). Covers the $125 of the $175 registration fee, two night's lodging.  $400.00 travel stipend. (Note: persons in doctoral programs do not qualify.)

4.     Local Seminarian Racial Ethnic Scholarship.  Covers the $125.00 of the $175.00.  Local Seminarians will be responsible for $50.00 of the registration fee. Please note that we will not cover lodging for Local Seminarian Racial Ethnic Scholarship Applicants

5.     Small Church Scholarship - fewer than 150 in worship – two scholarships per church are awarded, one for the pastor and another for an additional person. The pastor must be within the first ten years of service in the UMC.  A registration fee of $50.00 for each person ($100 total) will be paid at registration. The scholarship also covers one night’s lodging at the Hyatt Place Atlanta. (if needed, two rooms will be provided.) Covers $275 of the $325 registration fee for each person.  Registration deadline is June 5, 2017.

6.     Small Church Scholarship Local Resident - fewer than 150 in worship– two scholarships per church are awarded, one for the pastor and another for an additional person. The pastor must be within the first ten years of service in the UMC.  A registration fee of $50.00 for each person ($100 total) will be paid at registration. Covers $275 of the $325 registration fee for each person. Registration deadline is June 5, 2017.
Please note that we will not cover lodging for Small Church Scholarship Local Resident Applicants

7.     SEJ Scholarship - fewer than 300 in worship – two scholarships per church are rewarded, one for the pastor and another for an additional person. The pastor must be within the first ten years of service and be serving a church in the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the UMC.  A registration fee of $50.00 for each person ($100 total) will be paid at registration. The scholarship also covers one night’s lodging at the Hyatt Place Atlanta. (If needed, two rooms will be provided.) Covers $275 of the $325 registration fee for each person.
