JM Design is a designer and manufacturer of Irish custom railway models and kits, are considering producing our first rtr 4mm OO Gauge steam locomotive.

We focus on models of locomotives and rolling stock that operated on the Great Southern Railways and CIE railway system between the mid 1920s and the mid 1950s.

We are considering producing the GSR 623 Class (J5) or Midland "Cattle Engine" as our first mass produced rtr locomotive as these engines were true mixed traffic locos working all categories of traffic including express passenger, cattle trains from the big Western Fairs and heavy goods duties on the Midland and Southern sections of the Irish Railway network.

As the level of demand for this type of model is uncertain, our project planning and costings are based on the minimum production run by our Far Eastern manufacturing partners.
