International Overdose Awareness Day will be held on Wednesday, August 31. This annual campaign is aimed to end overdoses, remember without stigma those who died, and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind. To support this day, Southeastern Idaho Public Health will be holding an online Opioid Overdose Response Training. This training will go over how to recognize if someone is overdosing and what to do if they are, including administering naloxone. Naloxone is a drug that reverses an opioid overdose to temporarily restore breathing.
