The National Measurement Institute will be holding Discovery Day events at its Sydney-based laboratories in August this year. These events are a great way for university students and staff to learn more about NMI's scientific research and capabilities, and to explore ways to collaborate with us through our ongoing student program. Discovery Day visitors go on escorted tours of NMI's unique specialist labs, hear from current NMI students about their work and network with NMI staff and students.

Discovery Day is especially suited to students entering 3rd year, honours or postgraduate studies with backgrounds in a wide variety of science and engineering fields. University staff and prospective co-supervisors are also very welcome.

This year we will be holding our Discovery Day events on two different dates:
 - Friday 18 August: NMI Lindfield laboratories, 36 Bradfield Road, West Lindfield.
 - Friday 25 August: NMI North Ryde laboratories, 105 Delhi Road, North Ryde.
The schedule for each event will be:
 - 09:45 - 10:00: Sign-in
 - 10:00 - 10:15: Overview of NMI
 - 10:15 - 12:30: Escorted tours of selected laboratories
 - 12:30 onwards: Informal networking
Please note that visitors will need to arrive for the start of the event as the labs will only be accessible via the organised tours.

Transport and contact information for the Lindfield and North Ryde laboratories can be found at http://measurement.gov.au/Pages/TravelOptionsforSydney.aspx. Closed flat-soled footwear will be required at both sites.

Information on NMI's student program and current projects can be found at http://measurement.gov.au/Pages/Student-Opportunities.aspx. Please note that the project topics should be considered as indicative rather than comprehensive; enquiries about alternative project topics are welcome.
