Priority Area Selection

Action Planning is one of the steps in the process for building a healthy school community. Before building the action plan it is important to assess your school using the Healthy School Planner, or the Conversation Starter used at the HASS event to highlight the areas your school can celebrate in, and to highlight some areas you would like to become a priority. The three priority areas we've identified for building healthy school communities include; healthy eating, active living, and positive mental wellness.

Ever Active Schools, encourages you to pause here, and reflect on any assessments you may have completed (or complete one) before moving forward and selecting a priority area.

For more information on all the steps involved in building a healthy school community please check out the Alberta Healthy School Community Wellness Fund Developing Healthy School Communities Handbook, or the Alberta Health Services: Steps for building a Healthy School Community Webpage.

As you move through the Action Plan, use the Healthy School's Alberta, Provincial Action Plan Idea Generator tool for support. Use the suggested strategies and actions as ideas, or come up with your own.
