Children’s Environmental Literacy Foundation 2019 Summer Institute: Education for Sustainability

During the CELF 2019 Summer Institute Education for Sustainability (EfS) you will engage in active learning experiences that deepen your knowledge of Education for Sustainability (EfS) principles and practices. You will develop instructional skills in systems thinking and skills to apply EfS as an integrating context for student learning and community action. You will become part of a knowledgeable, creative community of experienced sustainability coordinators and educators who are committed to supporting each other with resources and extensive EfS experience.
We encourage teachers to participate as a school team (2-3 teachers from same school) to strengthen ongoing collaboration and progress during the school year.
Selection Process: CELF will contact you upon receipt of the application. 5 teachers will be selected for full scholarships. Priority will be given to teachers applying as a team of 2 or more.
Scholarship Awardees agree to:
Attendance: Arrive on time and participate in all three days of the Institute.
No show/cancellation fee of $150.
Complete Pre- and Post- Institute Survey: Participants are required to complete both a pre- and post- Institute Survey.
Project Work: Complete and share one of the Institute Project Options with CELF:
1. EfS Place, Problem, Project-Based (P3) Curriculum Lesson: Participants who choose this option will develop an EfS Place, Problem, Project-Based (P3) Curriculum Lesson using CELF’s EfS Design template.
2. EfS Leadership Action Plan: Participants choosing this option will create an EfS Leadership Action Plan to develop a deeper presence of sustainability in their school culture.
3. Sustainability Initiative Implementation Plan: Participants choosing this option will complete a sustainability initiative plan as connected to the NYC DOE Office of Sustainability goals and outcomes.
