The Racine County Dog Park Memorial Brick Program provides an opportunity for residents to remember their loved ones by means of a commemorative tree/plaque.
Memorial Tree Policy

  1. Racine County shall specify the planting location of the memorial tree.
  2. Racine County shall approve the memorial tree plant species.
  3. Memorial tree shall be a minimum of 2 - 2 ½ inches in diameter, balled and burlapped.
  4. Memorial tree shall be nursery grown.
  5. Memorial tree shall be planted in accordance with standard horticultural practices as provided by the Department of Public Works.
  6. Installation of the memorial tree shall be the responsibility of the donor or a qualified landscape contractor.
  7. Donor shall be responsible for notifying Diggers Hotline and Racine County five (5) working days prior to the tree planting.
  8. Racine County shall not be responsible for watering, caring and/or maintenance of the memorial tree.
  9. Racine County shall not be responsible for damages to the memorial tree for any reason including vandalism and natural causes.
  10. Racine County shall not be responsible for the replacement of the memorial tree.  Replacement becomes the responsibility of the donor.
  11. The cost of the memorial tree and installation, including replacements, shall be the responsibility of the donor.
  12. Donor shall be responsible for the repair and/or replacement costs of Racine County property damaged during the tree-planting program including, but not limited to, damage to turf areas, pavement, underground utilities, etc.

Memorial Plaque Policy

  1. Memorial plaque shall be approved by the Department of Public Works, including plaque size, materials and written message. The written message shall indicate that the tree is planted in memory of a named natural person. That person shall have had some connection to Racine County.  The only titles that shall be allowed are those of military rank or elective governmental office. No other narrative shall be allowed. 
  2. Memorial plaque shall be installed at the base of the tree, level with the surrounding ground.
  3. Installation of memorial plaque shall be the responsibility of the donor or qualified landscape contractor.
  4. Racine County shall not be responsible for damages to the memorial plaque for any reason including vandalism.
  5. Racine County shall not be responsible for the replacement of the memorial plaque. Replacement becomes the responsibility of the donor.
  6. The cost of the memorial plaque and installation shall be the responsibility of the donor.
  7. Donor shall be responsible for the repair and/or replacement costs of Racine County property because of the tree-planting program.  This includes, but is not limited to, damage to turf areas, pavement, underground utilities, etc.
