NKFI Kidney Camp Survey

Following recommendations from the CDC and Illinois Department of Public Health surrounding COVID-19, we are looking into shifting to a Virtual Camp setting that would involve a set of activities in which your camper can participate from the comfort of your own home.

With that in mind, we kindly ask if you could fill out the following survey to help us know what might interest you and your camper:

Scavenger hunt: for the younger campers in which we would send clues to the kids and have parents hide the items. So they kids will go around the house trying to figure out the clues.

Vision Board: for the older campers, activity in which we could send magazines and newspapers and they can cut images and paste them on their board. Then discuss everyone’s board over a video chat.

Automatons building / Soap makers: Sending the Campers kits for building automatons and soap making kits and follow along instruction videos.

Gimkit: Create remote learning lesson plans where campers answer questions on their own device at their own pace throughout a Kit, each student will get exposure to the questions multiple times to ensure mastery, they will earn and loose virtual money for right and wrong answers and use that money to purchase upgrades & powerups.

Cooking challenge: Invite Campers and their families to create a kidney friendly recipe, record the process and share it in a video alongside the recipe and steps to make it. At the end of the challenge we will share all recipes and have participants vote for the best 3 (Prize winners).

Yoga for kids: Having a prerecorded yoga session to do at home with Kidney friendly postures.

Experiments: Sending campers a box with materials needed to carry out experiments at home like recreating the kidney function with coffee filters and bottles and having an explanatory video with a step by step approach to follow along.

Virtual campfire: Having a zoom meeting with the Kids and parents to play classic games like Twenty Questions, Make Me Laugh, Two Truths and a Lie, There Once Was a Skunk and any other suggestions you might have for fun games.

Tik tok challenge: Lip dub and act you favorite song or movie line and share it with the other campers, vote on the best ones and get prizes for the top 3.

Egg carton garden: Sending campers seeds and materials needed to create an egg carton garden and follow along instructions in a prerecorded session with explanation on what plants need to grow and how to do it at home.

Comedy Club: Having a zoom meeting with campers and open up the mic to share their best jokes with each other.
