Welcome to the online questionnaire of the research project 'A language policy for Bonaire'[FETC-GW LK: 21-122-01]!

Bonaire has a multilingual population. The majority of the population uses Papiamentu as a home language, but Dutch, English and Spanish are also used a lot. In order to develop a language policy for Bonaire, it is important to investigate language use on the island as well as opinions of the population on the importance of the different languages, both inside and outside of education.

This information letter concerns the investigation for the development of a language policy for Bonaire which is being conducted through the Fundashon Akademia Papiamentu on assignment from the Public Entity Bonaire. The research team consists of:
1) Prof. dr. Nicholas Faraclas, University of Puerto Rico.
2) Dr. Ellen-Petra Kester, Utrecht University.
3) Drs. Eric Mijts, University of Aruba.

We ask your collaboration in this research by filling out a survey. The questions are posed in English. Filling out this survey will take about 30 minutes of your time.

There are no direct personal benefits or disadvantages to your participation in this research. Participation is fully voluntary and there are no 'right' or 'wrong' answers. Your personal opinion is what counts.

The information collected is fully anonymous. After publication, the data of the survey will be stored in an electronic file at a protected server at Utrecht University. The data may be shared and/or re-used by other researchers to answer other research questions.
