Athletes must have completed Phase 2 of the registration process before completing this document.

Juniors are athletes under 19 years of age as of December 31, 2017 (birth years for junior athletes for the 20th Maccabiah Games are athletes born 1999 or later). Junior athletes must be available to travel from June 29- July 19, 2017* and are required to participate in the Junior Delegation Israel Experience program. In some sports, junior athletes and staff must be available to participate in a training camp that will take place in Toronto 2-3 days prior to departure.

Junior athletes must travel with the delegation to and from Israel, and must stay in the junior village assigned to the Canadian junior team by Maccabi World Union. In addition to training and competition, all junior athletes and staff must participate in all educational and social activities planned for them by Maccabi World Union and Maccabi Canada.

Parents of junior athletes cannot visit their children at the accommodation centre, nor can they sign them out for family trips or visits. Parents are encouraged to come and cheer on their children at the competition venues.

Junior athletes are the responsibility of Maccabi Canada’s staff between June 29th and July 19th*, All athletes, parents and guardians must be familiar with and adhere to Maccabi Canada’s policies and Code of Conduct.

Parental/Guardian Code of Conduct

The essential elements of character-building and ethics in sports are embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and six core principles: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship. The highest potential of sports is achieved when competition reflects these "six pillars of character."

I therefore agree:

  • I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
  • I will learn and adhere to the policies of Maccabi Canada.
  • I will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials, staff, and spectators at every game, practice or other Maccabi event.
  • I will not engage in any kind of disrespectful or unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, medical or any other Maccabi staff member, such as booing and taunting; or using profane language or gestures.
  • I will respect Maccabi Canada’s and Maccabi World Union’s staff and their authority during the Games and will never question or confront the Junior leadership including officials, coaches, managers, medical team or chaperones.
  • I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during the Games.
  • I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and I will refrain from their use at all sports events.
  • I also agree that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, I will be subject to disciplinary action that could include removal of my child from the team at the parents’ expense

  • The 20th Maccabiah Games may be dangerous, exposing participants to many risks and hazards, some of which are inherent in the very nature of

  • As a result of the aforesaid risks and hazards, I as a participant may suffer serious personal injury, even death, as well as property loss;
