LEARNING CONVERSATIONS SURVEY

The William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund wants your feedback on our new mission and strategic approaches!

The mission of the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund is to achieve equity in education by working with those affected and inspiring all to end racism and poverty.

The following strategic approaches are currently guiding the creation of programs to achieve our mission:

- Build assets within children’s homes, schools, neighborhoods, and society to reverse the affects of structural racism and poverty.

- Invest in a small number of highly distressed neighborhoods as the center of our work against poverty and racism.

- Support people most affected, especially parents, to navigate and change the barriers they see.

- Promote greater awareness and understanding of the disparities resulting from structural racism, the effects of poverty and the intersection of the two.

- Encourage healing in our society by supporting dialogue, action, policies and practices that advance racial and economic equity.

We want to learn about you and your experiences in your community so that we can:

- Gather enough information about people's lived experiences and ideas for change to help develop priorities for deciding what to fund through the grant process and which communities and populations/beneficiaries to focus on, for the next 1-3 years.

- Gather enough information to help develop priorities for allocating resources to the strategic approaches.

- Begin to build a network of potential partners, grantees, and allies for doing equity work in Connecticut.

- Build hope and support a narrative about how Connecticut can become a leader for equitable change around anti-racism and anti-poverty, especially related to education and schools.

The survey starts and ends with some questions about where you live and about your background. We will use this information to help give context to the stories and information that we gather through this survey.

The middle part of survey asks questions about your experiences and ideas regarding education, racism and poverty.

Thank you for sharing.
