US 60 (Grand Avenue), 35th Avenue and Indian School Road Intersection Improvements
About the Project:The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), in coordination with the Maricopa Association of Governments, the City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department, and the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, is designing improvements to the intersection of US 60 (Grand Avenue), 35th Avenue, and Indian School Road. The project will create a new elevated intersection of 35th Avenue and Indian School Road over Grand Avenue.
As part of this effort, artist Daniel Mayer has been commissioned to create a new public artwork integrated into two overpasses along Grand Avenue. The bridges will span Indian School Road and 35th Avenue, with artwork applied to the north side of Indian School Road and the east side of 35th Avenue (see map below). The artist will design enhancements to the bridge fences, creating visually impactful element within the overall infrastructure.
