Welcome to: Governance "Best Practices" - Conventional Wisdom, Anecdote, or Evidence

If you provide capacity-building for governance and nonprofit boards, we are seeking your assistance!

Governance practice, perhaps more than any other nonprofit field, has an abundance of so called “best practices,” which are championed by consultants and other capacity builders.  However, very little is understood about governance capacity building, that is, how do consultants choose their interventions with clients and what information and resources do they use and why?   How do they know the strategies are effective? The Alliance for Nonprofit Management’s Governance Affinity Group’s new research study is seeking to answer these questions and to help advance the governance field.

Your responses also will help inform the creation of a governance research to practice Consultant’s Tool Kit. Participants who complete the survey will receive tool kit following the completion of the study.

This confidential survey will take about 15-20 minutes, and your contribution to this study will be invaluable to advancing the field of capacity building.  All of the questions have response choices, so it goes very quickly. Please complete each question and make sure you click on the "done" button at the end of the survey, to ensure your responses are recorded. If you need to stop and return later, the program will save responses on completed pages, using the same computer.
If you would like a copy of the completed Tool Kit, please add your contact information at the end of the survey. No responses will be attributed to specific individuals, so please be honest in your answers.
