Officer Elections

Your current WSNA Officers’ 3 year term of office is ending.  Therefore, the first step in the process is for nurses to be nominated for each position. Current officers may succeed themselves. Once nominations are complete, all nominees will be confirmed via informed consent then placed on a voting ballot to be mailed out to all nurses who are members in good standing. Below are the WSNA Officer/Committee positions and a brief description of each.

By being a part of the WSNA officer team, you are a part of the next negotiating team and a body of dynamic nursing leaders who have been given the authority to make critical decisions in the best interest of the nurses, through various platforms. Aside from negotiations, the officers engage in monthly Conference Committee which is a forum where the officers bring issues from the nurses forward to be addressed by management. WSNA officers may receive training to help attend Investigatory Meetings when a nurse is asked to meet with Management. Once the election is complete, officer training and orientation will be provided.

Local Unit Reps (Nominations needed – this is NOT an elected or appointed position, but voluntary)

Local Unit Reps are the eyes and ears of the units specifically and work to be the liaison for the officers and the nurses on the floor.  Their main role is to help bridge communications from WSNA to the staff nurses and work on a task oriented basis. The time commitment is dependent upon the nurse and while important, doesn’t have a large time obligation to the role. Unit reps were key this past year in communicating with members during contract negotiations. There is no limit to the number of nominations for this category.  Even if you have already been designated as a local unit rep, please provide your name here so we know you would like to continue.
